Nullarbor Links – The World’s Longest Golf Course
Play 18 Holes Across 1,365 Kilometres of the Australian Outback
There aren’t many golf courses where you need to drive more than 1,300 kilometres to finish a round.
Nullarbor Links is one of Australia’s most unusual road-trip attractions and is officially promoted as the world’s longest golf course. Rather than having 18 holes arranged around a single golf club, the course stretches an incredible 1,365 kilometres between Ceduna in South Australia and Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Western Australia. The 18-hole course is spread across towns, roadhouses and golf courses along the route, allowing travellers to play a hole or two before climbing back into the car and continuing their journey across the Nullarbor. For caravan, motorhome and camping travellers, it is a brilliant way to break up the long distances of the Eyre Highway and experience some of the tiny communities and remote roadhouses that make a Nullarbor crossing so memorable.

What is Nullarbor Links?
Nullarbor Links takes the traditional idea of an 18-hole golf course and stretches it across one of Australia’s greatest road journeys. The course runs between Ceduna in South Australia and Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Western Australia, covering approximately 1,365 kilometres. Instead of walking from one hole to the next, players drive along the Eyre Highway and surrounding roads, stopping at participating towns and roadhouses to play the next hole. Some holes form part of established golf courses, while others have been constructed beside remote roadhouses and settlements specifically for Nullarbor Links. The result is a golf experience unlike almost anything else in the world.
A Golf Course Across the Nullarbor
Nullarbor Links passes through some of the most famous locations encountered on a transcontinental road trip.
The route includes:
- Kalgoorlie
- Kambalda
- Widgiemooltha
- Norseman
- Balladonia
- Caiguna
- Cocklebiddy
- Madura
- Mundrabilla
- Eucla
- Border Village
- Nullarbor
- Nundroo
- Penong
- Ceduna
Several locations contain more than one hole, giving the complete course its 18 holes.
That means your next tee could be hundreds of kilometres down the highway rather than a few hundred metres away.
How Do You Play Nullarbor Links?
Playing the course is surprisingly straightforward.
Before beginning, purchase an official Nullarbor Links Scorecard. Scorecards are currently available from the visitor centres at Ceduna, Norseman and Kalgoorlie.
The scorecard purchase includes the map you need to locate the holes.
You then travel across the Nullarbor, stopping at each location and playing the designated hole.
After completing each hole, your scorecard needs to be stamped. At roadhouses and service stations, the stamp is generally obtained inside the business. Ceduna, Norseman and Kalgoorlie stamps are obtained from their respective visitor centres. At Kambalda, players currently stamp their own cards at the clubhouse. Once you’ve completed all 18 holes, take your scorecard to the visitor centre at the finishing end of the course. Your completed card can then be verified and you can receive a Nullarbor Links Completion Certificate.
How Much Does Nullarbor Links Cost?
As of 2026, the official Nullarbor Links entry price is:
Adult: $78
Family Pass: $178
The family pass covers one or two adults plus children under 16 travelling with them.
Prices can change, so it is worth checking the current fee before beginning your trip.
Do You Need to Bring Golf Clubs?
No. Travellers who don’t want to carry golf clubs across Australia can hire them. Nullarbor Links currently offers a set of five golf clubs in an over-the-shoulder bag for $50. The clubs can be hired from the same visitor centre where you purchase your scorecard. You keep the clubs while travelling across the course and return them to the visitor centre at the other end. If you’re bringing your own equipment, don’t expect pristine metropolitan fairways. Nullarbor Links itself recommends avoiding your best clubs on the rougher natural fairways because they can become scratched and dusty. Taking a couple of older irons for the outback sections is a sensible idea.
Don’t Expect an Ordinary Golf Course
Part of the fun of Nullarbor Links is that this isn’t manicured resort golf. The course combines constructed tees and greens with the natural landscape of the Australian outback. Depending on the hole, the terrain surrounding you might consist of red dirt, limestone, scrub, bushland or the seemingly endless landscape of the Nullarbor. Wildlife, wind, heat and rough terrain can all become part of your round. Nullarbor Links recommends teeing your ball up on the natural fairway areas rather than playing directly from the ground. This helps protect both your clubs and the fragile environment.
The Dingo’s Den Hole at Nullarbor
For travellers visiting Nullarbor Roadhouse, one of the most appropriate holes on the entire course is waiting nearby. Dingo’s Den is the Nullarbor hole, set amongst the low vegetation and enormous open landscape for which the region is famous. It is a Par 5 and stretches approximately 538 metres. There aren’t many places where you can tee off in such an enormous landscape, and it is a memorable opportunity even for golfers who are more accustomed to beautifully maintained city courses. For visitors to Camping Nullarbor Plain, this is naturally one of the standout holes on the course.
90 Mile Straight
Another particularly memorable stop is at Caiguna. This is home to the appropriately named 90 Mile Straight hole, referring to the famous section of Eyre Highway beginning near Caiguna. The highway runs for approximately 146 kilometres without a bend, making it one of the most recognisable sections of road on a Nullarbor crossing. Playing a hole of golf before tackling the 90 Mile Straight is a suitably quirky way to mark the occasion.
Border Kangaroo
At Border Village, close to the South Australia-Western Australia border, players encounter Border Kangaroo. This is a Par 3 hole of approximately 126 metres. Border Village is already a popular stopping point for travellers taking photographs at the state border, so adding a hole of golf makes the stop even more memorable.
Nullarbor Nymph at Eucla
Eucla provides another of the course’s memorable holes.
The Nullarbor Nymph is named after one of the Nullarbor’s strangest legends – the story of a mysterious woman supposedly living wild in the bush around Eucla during the 1970s. The story became a media sensation and remains part of Nullarbor folklore. The Nullarbor Nymph hole is a Par 4 of approximately 315 metres.
While you’re in Eucla, it is also worth allowing time to explore the area and, conditions permitting, visit the remains of the historic Eucla Telegraph Station partly buried beneath the sand dunes.
Balladonia and Skylab
Balladonia is famous for its connection with Skylab, the American space station that crashed back to Earth in 1979, scattering debris across parts of Western Australia. Nullarbor Links incorporates this piece of local history into the golfing experience, giving travellers another reason to stop and discover the stories behind the communities along the highway. This is one of the things that makes Nullarbor Links particularly enjoyable. The course isn’t simply about golf – each stop introduces travellers to another piece of Nullarbor history, landscape or culture.
Can Beginners Play Nullarbor Links?
Absolutely.
You don’t need to be an experienced golfer to enjoy Nullarbor Links. In fact, the novelty of the course makes it particularly suitable for travellers who rarely play golf. The objective doesn’t have to be recording a brilliant score – simply completing all 18 holes across the continent is an achievement in itself. Families can also turn the course into a friendly competition during their Nullarbor road trip.
How Long Does Nullarbor Links Take?
There is no requirement to complete the course within a particular number of days. The official scorecard currently has no expiry date, meaning you can play Nullarbor Links at whatever pace suits your journey. Some travellers incorporate the holes into a relatively quick crossing, while others take considerably longer, stopping to camp and explore attractions along the way. For caravan and motorhome travellers, taking your time is arguably the best approach. Rather than viewing the Nullarbor as a road that simply needs to be crossed, Nullarbor Links encourages you to stop regularly and explore the settlements and roadhouses along the route.
Do You Need to Book?
Most of the Nullarbor Links holes do not require a tee-time booking. The major exception is Kalgoorlie Golf Course, where players need to book a tee time through the Pro Shop for the two Nullarbor Links holes located there. The official advice is to telephone the Pro Shop the day before arriving. Other holes along the route can generally be played as you reach them.
A Great Addition to a Camping Trip
Nullarbor Links works particularly well for people travelling with a caravan, camper trailer, motorhome or campervan. A crossing of the Nullarbor involves some substantial driving distances. Stopping every so often to find the next golf hole gives you another reason to take a break, stretch your legs and spend some time outside the vehicle. Many of the holes are located at or near roadhouses where travellers can also refuel, eat, stay overnight or use other facilities. Just remember that accommodation along the Eyre Highway can become busy. Nullarbor Links currently recommends booking caravan parks and roadhouse accommodation in advance rather than assuming a site will be available when you arrive.
Watch the Weather
Conditions across the Nullarbor can be extreme. Summer temperatures can make playing golf during the middle of the day uncomfortable and potentially dangerous, while strong winds can make even a short golf hole considerably more challenging. Carry plenty of drinking water, wear sun protection and suitable footwear, and avoid wandering unnecessarily into thick roadside vegetation while searching for lost golf balls. As elsewhere on the Nullarbor, also keep an eye out for snakes and other wildlife.
Chasing the Sun Golf Tournament
For golfers wanting to turn Nullarbor Links into an organised adventure, there is also the Chasing the Sun Golf Tournament. The event brings golfers together for a journey across the course, combining golf with sightseeing and the experience of travelling across the Australian outback. The next tournament is scheduled for 29 April to 8 May 2027, travelling from Ceduna towards Kalgoorlie.
Is Nullarbor Links Worth Playing?
Yes – and you certainly don’t need to be a serious golfer to enjoy it. Nullarbor Links is really a road-trip experience disguised as a golf course.
It encourages you to stop at places you might otherwise drive straight past, meet people at remote roadhouses, discover local stories and experience the enormous distances of the Nullarbor in a completely different way. There will be rough fairways, unpredictable weather and probably a few lost golf balls along the way. That’s precisely the point. Anyone can play 18 holes at their local golf club. Playing 18 holes across 1,365 kilometres of the Australian outback is something you’ll probably remember for the rest of your life.

One of Australia’s Great Road-Trip Experiences
There are spectacular golf courses around the world, but there is only one where completing a round involves crossing a substantial part of the Australian continent.
